Dr. Julie Kim is a Board-Certified Internist with over 20 years of medical experience and is the Medical Director for Pulse BrainCare of Denver. She has spent the last 12 years delivering MeRT treatment to over 6000 patients.

“Improving a child’s brain function with MeRT can help them deal with the world at a higher level. In most cases, we have seen better communication and social skills and greater independence, which can mean a far better quality of life for your child.”

MeRT can achieve remarkable results in autism treatment.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is an FDA approved therapy for Major Depressive Disorder and OCD and has been widely used for decades. We offer a more tightly customized version of this treatment and apply it to autism.

As the gentle magnetic stimulation opens up pathways in the brain, brain activity smooths out, becomes more even. We customize treatment for each child based on the results of their EEG (brain scan), tailoring the treatment frequency, location, and power used so that are are get this gentle stimulation to the exact right areas.

Once the EEG shows us where the brainwaves are out of sync, we use very short intervals of magnetic stimulation. We deliver gentle magnetic pulses to those areas that need it. This optimizes brain communication, helping it be more organized and in sync.

MeRT can provide astounding results in some cases. It can also be used in coordination with other therapies for even more benefit. We have seen time and again that ABA therapy works better after MeRT treatment.

MeRT has helped many patients with autism improve brain functionality. As a result, many aspects of their quality of life can be improved. Some common benefits* reported by patients and their parents include:

Our MeRT Platform delivers a personalized autism treatment plan, catered to your child’s unique brain.

As you have seen, Pulse Braincare provides a non-invasive breakthrough technology: MeRT or Magnetic EEG-guided Resonance Therapy. MeRT uses gentle magnetic waves to balance and stimulate healthy brain function.

By measuring and analyzing your child’s unique brainwave activity, we identify areas of the brain that aren’t functioning properly. Then we improve these areas with gentle magnetic stimulation. In most cases we can visibly see positive change in brainwave activity.

The MeRT platform is a patent protected process with a high safety and efficacy profile.

Step 1

Braincare™ Recording EEG

We conduct an eyes-closed 10-minute pain-free scan.

Step 2

Recording Analysis & Review

We use a patented approach with neurophysiological data to develop a customized treatment plan that aims to encourage healthy brain communication.

All MeRT treatment parameters are overseen and approved by a licensed physician.

Step 3

MeRT Treatment

While sitting comfortably, a trained technician will gently position the magnetic coil on the forehead. This coil will deliver an individualized treatment protocol.

The technician applies stimulation for 6-8 seconds per minute for around 45 minutes. A typical course of MeRT varies, but on average ranges from 4-6 weeks, Monday through Friday.

Step 4

NeuroSynchrony™ Improvement Analysis

We take sequential recordings every 10 treatments to monitor progress and make any necessary modifications to the treatment protocol.

“My son has improved a lot.”

“My son has autism spectrum disorder. He suffers from anxiety, depression, and high blood pressure. He couldn’t sleep, as his anxiety was too much to the point of not being able to sleep. We had a very difficult time with him. Today, I can tell you that with the treatment, my son sleeps all night now, and his anxiety decreased a lot. I feel that he pays more attention to the things around him. My son has improved a lot, and as a family, we are calmer, and we rest more. We are also very grateful to the people who gave the treatments, as they were very kind and patient with my son. I recommend it 100%.”

Multiple Independent Research Studies show how effective this treatment can be for autism.

MeRT is simply a more customized version of rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) making it even more effective. The science and protocols of MeRT are based on years of authoritative research published in some of the most prestigious scientific journals. Here are just some of these.

  • A systematic review of transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment for autism spectrum disorder (May 2024)

“After TMS intervention, discernible enhancements across a spectrum of scales are evident in stereotyped behavior, repetitive behavior, and verbal social domains. A comprehensive review of literature spanning the last five years demonstrates the potential of TMS treatment for ASD in ameliorating the clinical core symptoms.

“Recent findings generally indicate that TMS has positive effects on stereotypical behavior, repetitive behavior, verbal and social aspects of ASD, leading to overall improvement across all scale scores post-intervention.”

Autism Parenting Magazine highlights MeRT treatment.

In this excerpt, Frank shares the story of what happened to his son, Frankie, after just a few weeks of MeRT treatment:

Cover of Autism Parenting Magazine

“In the third week, something happened,” Frank recalls. “We were driving around sightseeing when we realized we were getting lost in the California desert.

Mary and I started to argue, and right in the middle of it, the moment we had waited six years for finally came. I remember he said a seven-word sentence—something like, ‘I want you two to stop fighting.’

I looked at my wife and said, ‘Do you realize what just happened? He just said a seven-word sentence.’ I had tears in my eyes. I was so happy.”

From there, Frankie’s progress snowballed. Doctors told the family he would continue to improve even without regular MeRT sessions, though perhaps at a slower pace.

“We had taken a video of Frankie on the plane when we started the journey,” Frank says. “He’s just making baby babble. Then, on the flight home, we have another video where he looks out the window and says, ‘Goodbye, California—see you soon.’ This was a nonverbal kid thirty days earlier. And his feet are flat on the ground.”

They returned home after only a month, but the difference between the child who arrived in California and the one who left was extraordinary. Today, Frankie is verbal and attends a public school.

“He tells me stories about times when he wanted to speak but couldn’t,” Frank says. “He goes, ‘You know, I’m so glad we went to the brain treatment, because now I can talk.’”

“I’m honestly amazed at the technology.”

“We originally brought our son here, who’s five years old, with the thought that we just want to try and give him every opportunity we can to function at his best; he struggles with various issues such as impulsivity, agitated moods, etc. I’m honestly amazed at the technology and how quickly we started to see changes in him. He has made major progress in the last four weeks; he is able to converse on higher levels. His focus has sharpened, and he’s concentrating on building and creating more with his hands, sitting for longer periods of time while he works on projects. The largest change that we noticed immediately was his mood has stabilized! He has been so happy and calm! We have not experienced any negative side effects whatsoever. Easy and painless treatments!”

“They gave me back my son.”

“My son had vaccine poisoning and got brain damage due to neurotoxicity. He became very violent and nonverbal and had severe autistic behaviors. He was so violent that he gave me four stitches on my lip and nerve damage on my left eye because of his violent behavior. I couldn’t be alone with my son and couldn’t hug or touch him, and it broke my heart. My husband and I brought my son to the brain treatment center. Within one week of the treatment, my son was more calm, and I got to hug him for the first time in two years. My son did six weeks of treatment and then received another four weeks of treatment. He is much calmer and started playing ping-pong, shooting basketball, kicking the soccer ball, and exercising. He started volunteering at different programs, catching the city bus with his para workers, and started talking… They gave me back my son.”
